Fantasy Nascar Auto Racing

Having Fun with Fantasy Racing

Fantasy racing is a popular game online and offline based on different races happening in the country and around the world. This type of game is the ultimate test of race fans as they try their knowledge about the race track, the driver and the conditions to piece these data together to effectively predict the outcome of the race. The knowledge will practically be used to defeat the competition as the race result is almost according to the plan of player. It’s a great activity, especially online, as you compete with millions of users around the world.

Uniqueness of Fantasy Racing

Although this game is another fantasy sport, it requires a totally different treatment compared to other fantasy sports. In this game, it is never enough for the user to know the driver’s data. The driver’s success in the game is also based on the equipments and tools they use. For that reason, fantasy racing is not just based on the driver but even on parts too. This requires careful planning and familiarization about the sport not to mention the car itself.

There is also a variety of fantasy games in this sport. This is expected since compared to other sports wherein two teams compete; more than 10 teams in every race compete to become the leader. As the winner is determined by who gets there first, this type of competition has helped spawn a new form of fantasy racing.

Fantasy F1 Racing

F1 or Formula One is the premier auto racing in terms of open car competition. This is also the competition where fastest cars are used. The race happens around the world in different countries that usually starts in Australia in March and ends in Brazil in October or November.

There are three forms of fantasy games that could be played in F1 racing. Two of these formats are also applicable to other races and it has a particular form of Fantasy game unique only to F1:

The Driver’s Game

This type of fantasy racing game is only based on the drivers. The player will select a group of drivers and use the results of these drivers as their points. The points are usually distributed rotisserie-style wherein the winner gets the maximum points and each runner-up will receive corresponding points. This could be used per game or could be implemented in one season.

Race Prediction Format

This type of fantasy racing game will require players to predict the outcome of the race. Players will name the results and the player that has the most accurate result will get the most points. Scoring depends on the +/- of the actual results in the game. They are added up to determine the winner in that particular race.

There is a variation of this game wherein it employs the risk factor of the racer. Drivers are usually classified on different categories depending on their chances of ending up in a position that could garner points. Those that are placed in high risk will have more points if they end up on the expected position which is higher than its category.

Team Game – Become an F1 Boss

This form of fantasy racing game in F1 is geared for dedicated and hardcore fans of F1. As an F1 boss, you are tasked to choose not only the winning driver but also the winning components – the engine, the team and even tires. You are given a specific budget where it will limit you on some components while emphasizing on others. After each race, the winning components will gather points which could accumulate for the season.

Fantasy NASCAR

NASCAR or National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing is the most popular stock car racing in North America. Drivers from around the world come to NASCAR to compete using stock cars with few modifications on the car to preserve its power.

The common format used in Fantasy NASCAR is the driver based format wherein each player will select a group of drivers. Most free websites use the rotisserie form of scoring.

The good thing about Fantasy NASCAR is that the game starts early February and ends in November. That means the window of rest is only two months and the season starts again. To make the game a little bit more interesting, the pole position or the qualifying position is also used in some Fantasy NASCAR games.

Other Fantasy Racing Sources

Since there are hundreds of other races around the world, fantasy racing based on other races is also possible. But none of them have the popularity of NASCAR and F1. There are fantasy games that are not only based on a particular race but also on the body type. Fantasy racing for stock cars (such as NASCAR), open car (F1) and sports cars also exists. The game is based on different races around the world and they are usually driver based to avoid further complications because of different factors influencing each race.

Success in Fantasy Race

Unlike other sports, a successful driver is not only based on his or her driving skills. The driver needs to have a powerful car wherein its capacity is harnessed to the fullest extent. The best race car driver in the world can’t do anything if the car the driver uses is not at par with other cars.

For that reason, research not only in driver’s history is important but also on the engine and other car components as well. In F1, even the tire selection is highly scrutinized as this will have significant impact in case the weather conditions change in the middle of the race.

Of course, you shouldn’t count out the “luck” factor. Fantasy racing is partly luck since no one really knows who will win the game. Unseen factors such as engine trouble and accidents could single handedly stop the best drivers in the world. That is why there is still the risk factor in every game which could be highly rewarded if the prediction turned out to be correct.
