Basics on Fantasy NCAA College Football

Fantasy NCA College Football is a fantasy game that deals with a very specific sport and source of data. In this fantasy game, the sport used is the American football while the data source is from the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association). But even though the fantasy game is very specific, it deals with more teams compared to NFL (National Football League). There are various divisions, conferences and single games that a fantasy player can sign up with. The variety of options is astounding since each player can choose from different college football teams around the country.

Since this concerns college football, the games are usually held within the school year. That means most of the games are held from August to May. But that doesn’t mean there are no activities for two months. Those who are signed up with fantasy NCAA college football are usually looking for as much info as they can so that they will know their prospects for the upcoming school year. News about high school football players are being interpreted not only for the future of the school but also on the impact of the fantasy game.

The Controversy on the Game

Even though fantasy NCAA college football is gaining in popularity and following, the NCAA committee is not as enthusiastic about this following compared to its fans. The rationale of the committee is they wanted to protect the players from being used for commercial purposes. This might even lead for large websites that operate in fantasy games to influence the outcome of the game as they can easily get in touch with the college football players.

For that reason, some fantasy games in NCAA football that you can find online are only limited to pick ‘em games.

On the other hand, there are still websites that has the common character of a fantasy game such as selecting the players and using their stats. But like most fantasy sports, Fantasy NCAA college football has some unique features that increase the beauty of the game.

The Season Games

When the school year starts, fantasy league players often compete in regular season games. These games are played from May to December or until the Bowl Game starts. The unofficial but highly regarded end of the regular season games is the Army-Navy game.

During the regular season, those who enter the fantasy game choose players which will be part of their team for the entire season. Scoring would either be in a rotisserie or points with multipliers format. Although head to head competition still happens within the regular season, they are not frequent as they are usually employed for the Bowl Games.

Fantasy League During Bowl Games

Since NCAA college football do not use the playoff system to determine the national winner, they use series of Bowl Games wherein they feature some of the best college teams from different divisions.

During these games, the fantasy NCAA college football uses two different formats to determine the winner.

The first format is the classic head-to-head fantasy format. Each player at the fantasy game chooses a player in each team for different positions. These positions have corresponding stats that will determine the outcome of the game. For example, a QB (Quarterback) is measured by the pass completion and/or total yards passed while the RB or Running Back is measured by total yards rushed in the game and/or the average yards per play. Since the players can only come from the two teams playing the specified bowl, the options are limited but still a very interesting head to head competition.

The second format is usually referred to as the “Pick ‘em” games. In gist, this is a type of game that lets the fantasy player select team he or she prefers. But aside from the game winner, additional aspects of the game could also be used in this type of game. For example, players in the fantasy game select players and match them according to their stats.

Succeeding in Fantasy NCAA College Football

Having fun while succeeding in this form of fantasy game is not only based on the start of the regular season. Before the season starts, the fantasy player has to be on the lookout for the possible recruits from different high school teams. Because of the power of the internet, updates on some of the most popular high school football players and teams in the country could be easily found. The data should be useful when the season starts. Determining the quality of the players only when the season starts is usually very challenging since there are virtually no information available for every college player. Researching on every player when the season starts is very challenging so it advisable to start as early as possible.

Information is the most powerful weapon of every fantasy player. You don’t succeed in just drafting the best players in the country and just leave them. There are times that your chosen football player becomes part of the injured list or have been experiencing some performance slump for the past few games. When this data arrives, you need to react accordingly or else your assembled team will not be as productive as you first started. Updating your roster is always important players can always experience problems during the season and even in Bowl Games.

Aside form information regarding the league and the college football players in general, success is also based on understanding of the rules in the fantasy game. Because of the known discouragement of the NCAA in terms of fantasy games, some websites have limited their fantasy games to simple pick ‘em up games. This is done to prevent from using each player for the purposes of gaining profit in the game.

Before you start, carefully understand the rules of the fantasy game. Some would employ the more popular fantasy game format while others are simple head to head games. Either way – read the rules on scoring, drafting and scoring disputes to be successful in any fantasy NCAA college football game.
