Top NBA Draft Picks For Your 2010 Fantasy Team

The NBA Draft is still months away but speculations and mock drafts are now posted online. Although other players may seem to be changing positions from time to time, Blake Griffin is almost certain that he will be with LA Clippers once the season starts in November. It does make sense since the team desperately needs some help and they have tried to acquire Baron Davis hoping the team will improve. Unfortunately, nothing happened. Maybe with the presence of Griffin, the team will be perked up and might post wins nearly least half the Lakers did this year.

Before we go ahead on the list of great rookies this year, let’s establish a reason. Why care for the rookies? Here’s one simple explanation: the top rookies will most likely put serious numbers on board compared to a sophomore who didn’t really lived up to the hype. They will be drafted by teams who needed an offensive player and they will most likely deliver.

With that said, here are top rookies you should look out for in the draft.

Blake Griffin

This rookie will become a key player for Clippers (assuming they draft him) and could be one fantasy player you shouldn’t miss. Although he doesn’t provide over 20 points per game, he compensates that with rebounds. A double-double can be easily expected from this rookie. He might have some trouble in defense and his free throw is nearly 60%. Expect him to work on his free throws though.

Ricky Rubin

– an amazing point guard that was given a serious consideration because of his performance in Beijing. He’s a smart point guard that loves to be in the passing lanes for a steal. His experience in the international limelight is definitely a plus. However, his pace might not be enough for now. Expect his numbers to go up late in the season.

Hasheem Thabeet

If you’re looking for a fantasy player that could put up numbers on the defensive end, this is your guy. Thabeet is physically and emotionally ready for the NBA and he will compete as soon as season starts if he gets the nod of top drafters in the NBA. He can easily put up 2 blocks a game because of his intensity. His offense on the other hand, still needs some development.

James Harden

– A great offensive player that could have some defensive impact as well through steals. Forget about the fact that Harden didn’t really have a good run during the NCAA Tournament. He can easily put up numbers because of his shooting ability especially in the three-point area. His athleticism still needs improvement but he is a smart player and could adjust well.

Jordan Hill

– one of the best power forwards in this year’s draft, Jordan Hill could really help on defense because of his size as well as energy on court. He may not be the primary option though for offense which will definitely not help in your fantasy team.

Other rookies worth mentioning:

DeMar DeRozan
Tyreke Evans
Stephen Curry
Eric Maynor
Jonny Flynn
