Top Benches in the NBA Eastern Conference

A great NBA team is not only determined by their franchise players. The success of a team also relies greatly on the depth of its roster. A team that can provide support from the bench will most likely survive the grueling competition as their key players will have time to rest and even plan their strategy within the game.

With the transfer of Shaq to Cavs, the focus on Eastern Conference is growing. Celtics, Magic, Pistons and Cavs are now aggressive in getting their team improved for the upcoming season. But as already indicated; it’s just not the key players who win the game. Great benches can also contribute and could even be the determining factor in the team success.

The following are the teams in the East with an impressive bench this coming season:

• Washington Wizards

Key Bench Players: Randy Foye, JaVale McGee, Mike James, DeShawn Stevenson, Andrew Blatche and Nick Young.

The Wizards is a young team that will experience great contribution from their benches. Randy Foye and the rest of the bench should be able to provide great numbers which hopefully could lead the team to more wins.

But the challenge for Wizards is almost the same every year: all the promises of winnings and impressive numbers will only be possible if they are healthy.

• Cleveland Cavaliers

Key Bench Players: Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Daniel Gibson, J.J Hickson, Delonte West and Jamario Moon.

Aside from the presence of Shaq, the Cavs will be coming in this year with one of the best combination of bench players. Ilgauskas will be a towering leader for the 2nd team as he will be supported by young and talented bench players. J.J. Hickson is a little underrated because of other bench players. West, Moon and Gibson will not only provide talent but also playoff experience.

• Chicago Bulls

Key Bench Players: John Salmons, Jannero Pargo, Kirk Hinrich, Joakim Noah, Taj Gibson and James Johnson.

The Chicago Bulls will never be the same after trading Ben Gordon. But that doesn’t diminish the fact that the support staff of Bulls is young and willing to learn. Joakim Noah may not have the offensive power but he is the ultimate team player and defender. Hinrich, Pargo and Salmons can easily contribute to the team if they are given the chance. If only they will be taught to be tougher this year, the Bulls will be better than most teams in the East.

• Milwaukee Bucks

Key Bench Players: Kurt Thomas, Amir Johnson, Joe Alexander, Fransico Elson, Charlie Bell, Malik Allen, Brandon Jennings and Jodie Meeks.

We’ve probably saved the best for last. This might sound confusing to choose the Bucks but their current bench can easily be their starting five without any problem. Thomas maybe a little bit old but he is still a great leader in the floor. Jennings, Meeks and Bell provide a combination of great shooting and complete performance tin the game. The great thing about this team is that they seem to be missed out in many fantasy roster selection but they can provide great numbers this season.
