Tips for Late Start Fantasy Players
As of this writing, NFL is nearly halfway of the season, NBA has just started and MLB is now on off-season. There are other professional leagues that offer interesting fantasy games but, more often than not, the league is already midway. Many sports enthusiasts already have a good idea on what could happen during playoffs. Other fantasy players are already leading their individual leagues while others are opting to wait for next year.

But it’s never too late to join a fantasy league. As long as the league allows new players, there should be nothing that will stop the fantasy player from joining the league. It’s just a matter of adapting to the late game situation so that the late player could be part of the leading fantasy players.
If you’re just starting in to join a fantasy league, here are some tips that will help you cope with other established players:
1. Know your competition – many fantasy leagues will allow you to join but that doesn’t mean their scores will be adapted to your situation. You have to remember that you are there to keep up with the leader. Before jumping in or even giving up on the fantasy league, take a look at your competition. There should be something that you can do in the league that will help you improve your standings as a new player.
2. Gamble a little bit – you’re already late and there is a big chance that the best players have already been chosen. That means you are left with 2nd or 3rd choice players who may not have enough impact to place you in a better position. For that reason, it’s a better idea to gamble a little bit on some players in the league. Although you should not go with your gut feeling alone, take a good look on the available professional players that you can choose.
3. Keep up or even extend your research – since you can’t have really good players in your roster, you need to extend your research or even better than regular fantasy players. This is essential since you have to constantly make some changes in your roster so that you’ll be able to get the best 2nd or 3rd choice players in the league. Aside from weather and travel conditions, you have to know the trend of a specific player and learn how to use them in the league.
4. Take notes – let me give you a secret: a good way to slowly upgrade your team is to take careful notes of every player you’re interested – drafted or not. These notes will tell their scores and previous performance. This is very important as this will give you back-up plans on who to choose in case your team does not work out. You have all the time in the world to make some changes in your roster so your notes will help you grab the player that could help you. Doing your research and notes later will only increase your confusion in case you want to make some late changes.
