Choosing the right quarterback this season is a little bit challenging considering the top players in the league are not in their top shape. Tom Brady will be back from injury but you have to expect some rust to be shaken off before he could perform. Peyton Manning will surely have a hard time adjusting since Dungy opted to retire for good instead of guiding the team for another season.
But that doesn’t mean every quarterback in the league is going to be the downfall of your roster. Due to some changes in their roster, some quarterbacks will actually have a lot more to give this upcoming season.

| Matt Hasselback of the Seattle Seahawks |
– the best thing about Hasselbeck is that he has consistently performed before he experienced the season ending injury last season. He was only able to play for seven games which mean he has rested and recuperated just in time for the season. Besides, his problem is not on hands but on his back. Rehabilitation should get him back on track. Aside from being on top shape, he will be back with two notable receivers: Branch and Houshmandzadeh. John Carlson on TE can also provide the help Hasselbeck needs.
– only in his 2nd year, Matt Ryan has consistently led the post-Vick Falcons. Although he’s not the best in the league, he is a very consistent player as he can put numbers and executes plays when really needed. Some would say Ryan might choke in his second year (like most rookies) but his grace under pressure should be a great indicator that his stats will only improve next year. Ryan’s offensive team has also improved which will only add numbers and possibly more wins.
– Edwards is rarely part of the top 10 lists of quarterbacks. He has been inconsistent in past seasons and can even be counted off because he can’t boost the numbers of any fantasy team. But that’s about to change this season because of Terry Owens. Sure, he is a little bit flamboyant off-court but if there’s anyone who can back-up what they say, it should be Owens. The presence of the well known receiver will open possibilities for Edwards who only relied on Evans in the past.
– as a starting quarterback this year, Hill is expected to perform well under pressure. But history has a way of reminding many fantasy players that a back-up quarterback will usually have a hard time becoming the starter quarterback. This might be true considering the pressure he will experience with the 49ers. However, his stats last year and the presence of a great offensive team should be a good buffer for the struggles of Hill.

| Carson Palmer of the Bengals |
– the trouble with Palmer is that his injury is on his elbow which can really affect his throwing skills. However, he went through rigorous rehab and the training camp was very impressed with this improvement. He might need a game or two to adjust but he is expected to be part of the top quarterbacks in the league.
