The First Week of NBA: A Game of Chance and Choice

The regular season of the NBA has officially started and it's a blast to see professional players dive for the ball as if there's no tomorrow. It's a little bit early to predict the outcome of some NBA teams who made significant chances during the off season. Because of that limitation, it's best to take a look at their standing based on the roster.

Allen Iverson - Memphis Grizzlies

Fantasy players will particularly have fun for few weeks because of the interesting changes and news weeks before the start of the season. In the end, fantasy players have to make a choice to stay in normal ranking or risk a chance to gain something good or lose something big.

Chance Players

Allen Iverson - the thought that Allen Iverson will be with OJ Mayo in Memphis is very exciting. However, "The Answer" has been sidelined because of hamstring injury. There is no timeline for his injury which is a great gamble for fantasy players. They could let him stay in their roster and see if he plays after a week.

Yi Jianlian - the New Jersey Nets are playing it safe for their power forward. Yi is already struggling physically in the NBA but have been very useful in some key offensive games for the Nets. Right now there is a great gamble for the Nets since he injured his knee and was operated during the off-season. He is expected to play on the opener but it's anyone's guess if he comes out strong.

Rasheed Wallace - Rasheed Wallace is still a great basketball player and he fits just great with the Celtics. However, there is always a big "but" with R. Wallace because of his character. He could be one of the pillars in Boston as long as he doesn't get bored or annoyed with the way things are played in Boston.

The Choice Players

Chris Paul - the pressure is on for Chris Paul but he is one player that can easily handle this type of pressure. Most, if not all fantasy players chose Chris Paul when they are given the chance. He is always versatile and can provide the numbers anyone needed to be successful in fantasy games.

Kobe Bryant - the MVP should never be ignored. With a championship belt already in his resume without Shaq, he is poised to challenge anyone wanting the trophy. Of course, a little help from his new (Ron Artest) and old (Andrew Bynum) is also good for him.

Lebron James - honestly, the chances of Cleveland to achieve the trophy under the helm of Lebron is a bit shady. But when you have Lebron in your fantasy team, you will be assured of something good everything he steps on the floor. It doesn't matter if Shaq is there because he will still be as aggressive and powerful in the court.

The NBA season is still in its infancy but player statuses are already interesting. Keep on eye on your chance and choice players to post additional points to your league.
