Fantasy Basketball Conference Finals Selections

Players to Look out For Conference Finals

The NBA Conference finals are about to start and everyone is scrambling to make some changes on their roster. Forget about the brouhaha about the Rockets and Celtics’ performance in the semi-finals and focus on the final four in the league – Lakers, Nuggets, Cavaliers and Magic. Although many are hoping for a Kobe-Lebron showdown in the finals, the other teams still have enough manpower to take out their opponents.

But more importantly, it’s time to get hold of the unknown but will most likely become key players in the finals. Grab them if they are available or make the necessary trade to increase points during the highly anticipated finals.

Ben Wallace (Center/Power Forward) Cleveland Cavaliers

Yes, the guy has been injured for some time and has seen less minutes during the team’s run with the Atlanta Hawks. But that doesn’t mean he will have the same vacation in the conference finals. The team’s run with Hawks does not require his services because the main players of Hawks are the backboards. This time, Wallace will be needed so that he can stop Dwight Howard. As a former Pistons player, he will certainly use his experience to play defense on Howard.

Mickael Pietrus (Small Forward) Orlando Magic

This is going to be the series that will legitimize the role of Pietrus in the team. During their stint with the Celtics he has been very impressive in providing numbers for the team. With Cavaliers, he will be guarding none other than the leagues MVP. Pietrus on Lebron might look like a mismatch but they are both scorers and fierce competitors. He will be the one to watch out Lebron and Lebron will also have a handful of dealing with Pietrus. It’s a make or break for Pietrus but many are confident he’ll be there to help the Magic.

Jordan Farmer (Point Guard) Los Angeles Lakers

Jordan Farmar - Los Angeles Lakers

This Laker guard is showing inconsistency for the past few games but everyone else in their team does. However, what’s remarkable for the point guard is that he is pushing the team further even though no one notices it. The Nuggets will have a hard time controlling him as he’ll become more determined. It will actually require Chauncey Billups to become a full time defender so that Farmar could be controlled. He’ll be the unseen factor that could lead the Lakers to their 2nd trip to the finals.

Dahntay Jones (Shooting Guard) Denver Nuggets

The best teams in the Western Conference will finally go head to head. Although the focus will be on Kobe and the rest of the Lakers, the one guarding him will also improve – Dahntay Jones. He’ll be challenged by Kobe but he is also expected to put on numbers for the Nuggets as well. He’s practically the determining factor for the Nuggets to reach the finals.

These are the players that you have to look out for during the conference finals. They are the unseen hand that could provide additional numbers for your team. Fantasy league in the NBA is getting a lot more interesting even before the league reaches the finals.
